Club Meetings/Special Events Committee

This committee is in charge of club meeting details such as speaker chairs, Mystery Kiwanian, and door prizes, etc.  Also, organization of special event meetings such as Harlan White award luncheon, etc.  This committee will also work with the fundraising committee to assist in organizing fundraisers (Pancake day).

Club meetings and events are an important part of a member’s Kiwanis experience. Making our meetings productive and engaging is important. We start by asking club members what they expect from a meeting, then strive to meet those expectations. Use these meeting and event planning resources to “wow” your members and your community.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure each month’s speaker chairs are aware of their responsibilities
  • Gather the list of speakers from speaker chairs at the beginning of each month in order to promote in the Kiwanis newsletter
  • Ask a member to be the Mystery Kiwanian each week
  • Develop timeline, materials list, and task list for all planned events at least 3 months prior to the event date
  • Assist Financial Review/Fundraising Committee in planning and implementing planned fundraisers
  • Annual Events:
    • Dr. Suess Day at Cleveland State – Typically in January
    • Harlan White Award Luncheon – Typically in May
